Lucie reached the quarterfinals of Miami Open for the first time of her career, before losing to Caroline Wozniacki (4-6, 3-6).
Unseeded, the Czech really had a great week in Miami which should help building up her confidence.  In a superb form, she did not only return to a high quality level of tennis but also beat her first top 10 player since 2015. Indeed, Safarova stole the R4 victory from WTA #4 Dominika Cibulkova in 2 straight sets (7-6, 6-1). Watch some highlights of the match below:

Despite her defeat in quarterfinals, Lucie’s good performance in Miami is a really good sign, especially with the clay season just around the corner. After the match, Caroline Wozniacki mentioned “She’s been playing really well, and came out firing. Her lefty serve is also tricky (…) I thought we played some really great points out there.”

Following her good results, Lucie will move up to #28 and has now a very good chance to be seeded at the French Open.
