Final in Paris February 14, 2010

Today Lucie played her first final in this season.

She faced Russian Elena Dementieva in Paris.

At the beginning Lucie had a perfect start and led 3-0. However, Dementieva broke back and after that no one lost the own service game. The first set ended in a tie-breaker.

Lucie won the first set 7-6 (5)!!!

The second set started similar to the first one but this time it was Dementieva who could take the 3-0 lead. At 4-1 Dementieva had another break chance. She used it and served afterwards for the set.

After 80 minutes it was one set all.

In the third set the match was very balanced up to 3-3. While Lucie served, Elena had her first break chances in this set and took the opportunity immediately.

At 5-3, Dementieva had her first two match points after more than 2 hours, but could not use them.

Finally Lucie won her service game and Dementieva served for the match at 5-4.

During this last game, Lucie had a break chance and Elena her third match point. But both couldn’t use their chances. Dementieva needed her fourth match point to win the match and the title in Paris.

Unfortunately Lucie lost this match 7-6, 1-6, 4-6. However, it was a great week!!!

Lucie into semifinal February 12, 2010

Lucie won her Quarterfinal match at the GDF suez in Paris. She beat Shahar Peer from Israel 6-3 6-0.
She showed a great performance in all her matches in Paris.

In the semifinal she will face Italian wildcard and number 2 seed Flavia Pennetta.

What a match, what a score! Were you expecting such an easy win in less than an hour?

No, not really, not before the match. I was trying to stay focused on each point and each game, from the beginning of the match on. But of course in the end, I’m happy that it went to well and quickly.

What does it feel like to win so many games in a row and to win the second set 6-0?
It feels just great. It was awesome to gain all that confidence and to see things work out for me. Now I’m definitely looking forward to my next match tomorrow.

What is it with you and this tournament? Twice in a row, you came here and had a great run…
I like this tournament a lot. It feels great here and I feel great here. I can’t really say why, it just happens.

You’re here with your sister. She’s not coaching you, is she?

No no, my coach is Patrik Navara but he’s home right now. But my sister and I have a great relationship and it’s fun to be here together, especially since it’s her first time here in Paris, so w’ve done some sightseeing

Did you do things with her that you wouldn’t have done if your coach had been here?
Yes, of course but you know, I need to stay focused on my tennis and on the tournament and unfortunately, we can’t do as many things we would like to do.
