Lucie’s second round match was tougher than her easy first round win.

This time, her opponent was Karolina Sprem (CRO) and Lucie got a bad start. Sprem started into the match with a break and lead immediately 3-0. After another break, Sprem won the first set 6-2.

However, Lucie did not give up and fought back! In the second set, both players could realize a break and the score was equalized until the set came to an end. In the deciding moment, Lucie managed the final break in the set and won it 7-5!

The third set had to bring the decission. Lucie’s service was stronger than Sprem’s and with two breaks more, she won the set 6-3!

In the next round Lucie, who is number 3 seeded, will either face A. Amanmuradova or B. Zahlavova Strycova.

This week, Lucie takes part in the Collector Swedish Open in Bastad.

In her first round match, she faced German Kathrin Woerle (Q).

It was a good start in the tournament, Lucie could save the two break chances the German had and could realize nearly every break chance she had during Woerle’s serve.

The match did not last one hour when it was called: Game set and match Lucie Safarova, 6-2, 6-0.

In the next round, her opponent will be Karolina Sprem (CRO).

In her first round match, Lucie played against D. Cibulkova (SVK).

After almost two hours, Lucie lost the close match 6(5)-7, 4-6.

However, she was still participating in the doubles competition, together with A. Wozniak.

They won their first round match against K. Marosi and K. Woerle with 4-6, 6-4 and 6-3.

But then, they had no chances against the number 5 seeded L. Huber and B. Mattek-Sands, they lost the match 1-6, 1-6.

Now Lucie has enough time to recover and get her strength back!

The draw of the third Grand Slam tournament of the year has been made.

In Wimbledon, Lucie is seeded on position 25 and is in the first quarter of the draw.

Top seeded woman is Serena Williams who is in the same quarter with Lucie.

Lucie starts in the tournament with her match against Dominika Cibulkova (SVK).

However, Lucie plays doubles as well! Together with Aleksandra Wozniak, she has to face Chia-Jung Chuang and Olga Govortsova in the opening round.
